Tuesday's Children Charity Drive

Sunday, August 18 at 11:30am

This year the club has chosen to sponsor "Tuesday's Children". It is the leading nonprofit organization providing long-term support to individuals and communities around the world impacted by terrorism and traumatic loss. It began shortly after 9/11 by aiding those directly impacted. They step in after emergency response ends. They also have a very strong military connection, helping children deal with the loss of a parent in combat.

Their website is Tuesday's Children - A Response And Recovery Organization. tuesdayschildren.org.

We are suggesting a donation of $10.00 pp for the run. If you can't do the run, you may still send a contribution to Sue Stauffer, 935 Kendale Rd. Red Lon, Pa 17356. Checks may be made payable to PACE. The club will match donations to $250.00.

Now, about the run. We will meet August 18 at Prospect Hill Cemetery, 700 N. George St. York, PA at 11:30 am. (prospecthill.org) We will be given a guided tour (in a covered tram) of the historic grounds dating back to the 1700's. There is a signer of the Declaration of Independence, civil war heroes, etc., and a Court of Honor dedicated to military and first responders. It contains a large section from the Twin Towers. The tour lasts about 1 1/2 hours.

The tour is free, but it is limited to 22 people. Please email Sue by Aug. 12 to make your reservation. suzons@yahoo.com

For those members not going on the tour for whatever reason, meet at Prospect Hill Cemetery at 1:30, because after the tour we will drive to Sweet Willows Creamery for a snack of, what else, ice cream. It is made on the premises and is outrageously delicious! http://www.sweetwillows.com. The address is 2812 East Prospect Rd, York, PA.

So, have a big breakfast and get ready for an enjoyable (yes!) cemetery tour.

Any questions, just ask. Anything I missed, please let me know!
Thanks, Sue.
